Accessible Toilets Update 5

Updated: Oct 21, 2023

You will have seen the hoarding has been removed in the church which means we are approaching completion of the new facilities. The last main delay is the bespoke stained glass windows which should be installed towards the end of the month. However, we have been able to return the full length pews in the main aisle although they are not yet accurately respaced.

The side chapel remains closed off as there are some building materials stored in there for the final push. However, you can see the new doorway that has been created into the toilets. The door you can see is a sliding door and will be fitted for automatic push butten opening again at the end of the month.

This doorway leads into a small lobby area and then through a second sliding door to the three toilets themselves.

You can see in the pictures above the openings where the window are still to be fitted. All the lighting is operated by sensing movement and will therefore come on automatically and turn off when the toilets are vacated.

There are some of the accessories still to be fitted; toilet roll holders, paper towel dispensers, soap dispensers, mirrors etc.

Once the final work is completed we will hold a "Big Clean" day on 4th November when we will invite as many helpers as possible to give the church and new toilet area a deep clean. More details about that later.

We are almost there - and thank you for your patience with all the delays. It will be worth it in the end as we will have first rate accessible toilet and changing space along with two new ground floor toilets.
